What this notice covers

This notice covers the Ping123 Proxy Helper Chrome extension. The optional Ping123 website and any proxy service you choose are separate services. This extension manages your own proxy configurations; it does not supply a VPN or operate the proxy servers.

Data stored on your device

The extension saves the protocol, proxy address, port, username, password and optional profile name you enter in Chrome extension storage on your device. It also stores the selected profile, connection-control state, endpoint-to-credential digests that help avoid incorrect reuse of Chrome authentication, short-lived authentication attempt counters, sanitized error information and a temporary deleted-profile undo record.

Profiles are not synced or uploaded to Ping123. The IP-address disclosure refers to proxy endpoints entered by the user; the extension does not request GPS or device geolocation. Chrome extension storage is not a password vault. Someone with access to your device or browser profile may be able to access saved data.

How your data is used

Saved profiles are used to apply the proxy you choose. Credentials are supplied only to matching proxy authentication challenges while the extension controls that proxy. They are not supplied to ordinary website login challenges. Your browsing traffic is routed through the proxy you select, whose operator can receive connection information and whose own privacy practices apply.

The extension does not collect browsing history or page content, and has no analytics SDK, content scripts or remotely executed code. It does not sell user data or use proxy credentials for advertising. Our use of information received through Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used and transferred only as needed for the user-requested proxy functionality and optional link navigation described here, not for unrelated purposes or creditworthiness or lending decisions.

Why Chrome permissions are needed

Optional Ping123 website link

Clicking Check IP Quality or the Ping123 brand link opens ping123.app with fixed campaign attribution parameters. No saved proxy address, username, password or profile identifier is included in that link. Like a normal website visit, the site receives your current public exit IP and request information. Its checks and privacy practices are separate from this extension. The extension does not open the website automatically on installation, startup or proxy switching.

Optional Webshare affiliate link

The popup includes a labeled link to Webshare’s public free proxy plan. We may receive a commission on qualifying purchases. The offer is not exclusive to Ping123, and Webshare’s terms may change. Purchasing is optional and does not unlock extension features.

The link opens only when you click it. Webshare receives a fixed referral code and normal website request information and may use attribution cookies under its privacy policy. No saved proxy profiles or credentials are included. The extension does not inject affiliate links into websites, replace other referral codes, or set affiliate cookies in the background.

Retention and deletion

Saved profiles remain until you edit or delete them, clear extension storage, or uninstall the extension. A deleted profile can be restored for 60 seconds through Undo; the undo record expires afterward. The authentication guard resets at full browser startup and may be seeded from the active profile. Deleting a saved profile does not necessarily clear Chrome’s own authentication cache; a full browser restart may be needed. Uninstalling removes this extension’s local storage.

Turn Off clears this extension’s proxy setting and restores Chrome’s underlying configuration. It does not delete saved profiles. Removing local extension data does not delete records that a proxy provider or a website independently holds.

Security and scope

SOCKS5 username/password authentication is not supported by Chrome. This extension does not promise anonymity, fingerprint spoofing, WebRTC leak protection, per-tab identities or protection for other applications. Your choice of proxy protocol and provider affects the security of your connection.
